Winter 2017 Certification Training — Weekend Workshop

Instructor:  Françoise Lombard (Diplôme Supérieur)

Date:  Saturday and Sunday, February 18 & 19, 2017

Time: 9:30 am - 4:00 pm (total of 10 credit hours)

Location:  Canada’a National Ballet School, 400 Jarvis Street, Toronto, Ontario

Pre-requisites:  Previous Dalcroze experience, or permission of the teacher.  It is also expected that students have a minimum of RCM Grade 6 (or equivalent) piano proficiency and Grade 2 Rudiments.  

This workshop will develop the three core subjects of the Dalcroze work:  Eurhythmics, the study of the elements of music through body movements; Solfège, ear training and music literacy; and Improvisation, spontaneous musical expression using the piano and voice.  This course is appropriate for students preparing for the Dalcroze Canada certification exams, as well as for advanced students who would like to review and maintain their skills.  This course may be used toward credit hours required for Certification Training in Canada (10 hours).

International Dalcroze Conference, July 2017

**NEW*** 3rd International Conference of Dalcroze Studies will be held in Quebec City, July 30 to August 3, 2017

The aim of ICDS3 is to present the best of current research and practice within Dalcroze Studies and related fields. ICDS is a global, transdisciplinary forum, open to viewpoints from education, the arts and humanities, and the social, health and life sciences. We welcome practitioners and scholars alike. This year our theme is improvisation in music, dance, somatic practices, theatre and therapy, with a special focus on the relationships between music/sound and movement.

Our 3rd conference takes places 30 July – 03 August 2017 at Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada: ‘The living moment: Exploring improvisational practice’.
